Certified Translation | C.O.C. Translation

Updated: Feb 8, 2022

#FavellaAtWork: Our Client required the certified translation of her Singapore Certificate of Clearance (COC) for her Italian citizenship application. Here is how we helped.

  • Location: Singapore

  • Date: January 2020

  • Topic: English to Italian certified translation of a Certificate of Clearance (COC) to support the Client’s application for Italian citizenship.

  • What we do: Translation, Revision, Certification with company stamp and signature, Delivery of certified hard copy.

The Challenges

Certified translations are a key component to a successful Italian citizenship application.

For this purpose, a certified translation must undergo legalisation. In Singapore, legalisation is done by the Italian Consulate after a careful comparison of the translation against the original document. Therefore, to maximise the chances of acceptance, the certified translation needs to be very accurate both in terms of content and layout.

Moreover, the Client was short on time for submitting her application. Some things just cannot wait, so she requested our availability for an urgent delivery.

Our Solution

To assist the client, we concentrated our efforts on three key aspects:

1. RESPONSIVENESS & TIMELINESS

We promptly responded to the Client’s first inquiry, agreed on providing an urgent service and kept the tight deadline in mind throughout the translation process. After each step, we updated the Client of the progress on our side and remained reactive for the whole duration of the job.

2. ACCURACY

After translating the Client’s COC, our translator Monica conducted an accurate round of revision with a focus on names and numbers. Next, the text was carefully formatted to faithfully reflect the source layout, for maximum clarity. A second round of revision followed.

4. FLEXIBILITY

Being mindful of the tight deadline, we offered to meet the Client in person in a convenient location in the Central Business District to hand-deliver the certified translation to her. This arrangement saved 1-2 days as compared to our standard delivery method by post – which gave the Client better peace of mind, and more time to focus on the rest of her application.

Conclusion

Certified translations are often time-sensitive. Clear communication with the Client, punctual updates and swift project management allowed us to provide a seamless urgent translation service of her Certificate of Clearance (COC).

This allowed the Client to proceed to the legalisation at the Italian Embassy in Singapore without any delays, taking her one step closer to her Italian citizenship goal.
